Build a definition of a successful Science classroom that integrates modeling and simulation. Tell us what you imagine a successful Science classroom looks like, how it functions, how the teacher and students interact, how the students interact with one another, and the role of computers.

  • Describe how you would model a complex adaptive system

Reflect on the complex adaptive system (perhaps one you identified after watching the Complex Adaptive Systems video). Describe the phenomenon in terms of how you might model it

What is the phenomenon you thought was a complex adaptive system?

    • Who/what are the agents?
    • What is the environment?
    • What are the interactions between agents and/or between agents and the environment?

    Hello,

My 7th grade students are working on simulating competition between species within an ecosystem.  One group has decided to model sexual reproduction with two mountain lions. However, their male mountain lion will not move.  They have rebuilt the entire male mountain lion setup, still with no luck.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there fellow teachers with GUTS,

The summer PD program was my first introduction to coding. I didn't expect to, but I did catch the coding addiction! I now teach the after school coder's club with my school's ITRT. In my 7th grade life-science classroom we are currently studying ecosystems/population dynamics, so this is a perfect time to introduce MOD 3. Please reach out to me if you have any helpful suggestions or would benefit from hearing about my plans. I would be happy to share ideas and resources.

    Keep calm and Code on!
